Event Description
BIGTECH AFRICA 2026: Catalyzing Innovation in Tunis
September 8–10, 2026 | Tunis, Tunisia
BIGTECH AFRICA 2026, a landmark convergence of technology, policy, and entrepreneurship, will unite visionaries, investors, and innovators in Tunis from September 8–10, 2026. Hosted by Tunisia’s Ministry of Digital Economy and supported by the African Union, this premier event aims to position Africa as a global tech hub while addressing the continent’s unique digital transformation challenges.
Themes and Focus Areas
The summit will center on four interconnected pillars:
1. AI and Digital Transformation: Showcasing AI-driven solutions for healthcare, agriculture, and education. Workshops will explore ethical AI deployment and local language models.
2. Startup Ecosystems: A dedicated "Pitch Arena" will spotlight African startups, connecting them with venture capitalists and accelerators. Tracks include fintech, agritech, and green tech.
3. Policy and Regulation: High-level dialogues will address data privacy, cross-border digital trade, and harmonizing frameworks to foster innovation.
4. Skills Development: Partnerships with UNESCO and local universities will launch a "Digital Skills Academy," aiming to train 10,000 youth in coding, cybersecurity, and IoT by 2027.
Key Highlights
- Expo Hub: A 10,000 m² exhibition featuring 200+ companies, including Google, Microsoft, and African unicorns like Flutterwave and Jumia.
- Investment Forum: Targeting $500M in commitments for African tech ventures, with a focus on climate tech and digital infrastructure.
- Tunis Declaration: A landmark agreement outlining Africa’s digital priorities for 2026–2030, endorsed by heads of state.
Why Tunisia?
Tunis, a gateway between Europe and Africa, offers strategic connectivity and a thriving startup scene. The city’s tech parks (e.g., Silicon Oasis) and government incentives make it an ideal host for fostering pan-African collaboration.

BIGTECH AFRICA 2026 aspires to:
- Accelerate Africa’s digital economy to $712 billion by 2030 (per AfDB projections).
- Bridge the digital divide through inclusive policies and infrastructure investments.
- Position Tunisia as a permanent tech hub, similar to Rwanda’s Kigali Innovation City.
